I find XRM and XTC to be very good, comprehensive mods that add a lot to X3. Ive owned every other X-series saga game since the first days of x-beyond and usinng a joystick I havent tried the x4 yet because of the high price, when its availible for $20 ill give it a try. with mods you can easily get better graphics for all ships and new ships to play with tbh its a solid upgrade over standard X2 but not modded, there is mods availible for x3 but not as many and I had trouble with x3 crashing a lot. strafe works properly and makes for incredible flight sim Mods really turn it into a new game, full texture make-overs and AI's that are quite difficult, the community really did make incredible mods for the x2 saga. Originally posted by ||PFH||Ritticus:tbh the most finsihed x-verse thats stable and has tons of mods availible for it, is going to be X2 if you want a solid X-series experience Over time Egosoft and the modding community will create the assets which are missing now. Still no alternative for the X-series anywhere in sight. But important polish, features and asset variety have been cut down to get walking and NPC's into the game. And you can ignore station walking for the most part. Subpar station surfaces and body meshes/textures only bind development resources and drag the series down. X series is, and will always be niche gaming at best. I think they believe they'd need those things to compete in the triple A gaming market. But they are commited to include their vision of a seamless walking-flying transition and won't back down from it. Told them from the start to go for 2D interfaces to handle station interaction like most indie space games do. Yep, they should've dumped the whole walking on stations part after X Rebirth and focus on improving the core gameplay. it doesnt take long and the player will be bored out of their mind walking on space station platforms to look for 1 particular npc. using bonus pack plugins will employ a pilot who levels up and seek better and more effective trade routes.Īs always egosoft sacrifices smooth gameplay for graphics which i don't get. Yes certain aspects in x3 let you have trade pilots. Player owned ships working by remote control interaction with the onboard computer of the ship, rather than having to man your ships with pilots. Why did in xbtf,xt,x2,x3.everything work so much smoother? with stations sending you an interface to your onboard computer for stuff like trading and doing comm with npcs. I don't care about this walking simulator aspect that we have now while landing on stations.Īlso technology wise the game seems to go backwards compared to earlier titles in the series. The backlash for rebirth was bad enough and they learned nothing from it as it seems. Egosoft isn't going to get my support for some version of the franchise which they shove down the communities throat no matter what.
