Hopefully things will get better for you during Peak Hour in about mid-Feb. I guess the new year is the "Black Friday" of the fitness industry. New faces mosying on the cardio equipment.Īnd within 2-3 months I start to see the drop-off. It's tough having to go to the gym and workout at Peak Hour.īut the vast majority of us (myself included) don't have a choice b/c of our work schedules.Īs for New Year's Resolutioners - isn't it so automatic, like clock-work? It was arms day for me.Īgain, let me make it clear that we don't hate new year's resolutioners. I did 6 routines, 3 sets each, 8-10 reps each set. We were able to finish everything we wanted to do in 30 minutes. We dealt with it by doing our routines as fast as we could with very little breaks in between. This evening, we went to the gym and oh my goodness it was so crowded. ![]() We both work full time as professionals, and we both go into our offices early in the morning, so the only time we can go work out is right after work. We go 5 days a week.Īs much as we love seeing new faces at the gym, you gotta admit that it's not very pleasant to have the gym overcrowded. We love to see people trying to better themselves mind and body. You’d be surprised at how you can improve a person’s quest to self betterment by the using the simplest gestures.First of all, I would like to make it clear that we love seeing new faces at the gym. Show someone how to use a machine, correct someone’s form, give a good spot. Although the bombardment of resolutioners can and will be seen as an inconvenience, it is an opportunity to share your knowledge with them. This can be someone’s motivation and inspiration to keep them in the gym. One of the most important things I’ve learned through my fitness career is to offer a lending hand. Personally, I’d rather them be in the gym than riding that couch. The bad news is, most of the resOlution crowd will stop coming to workout and go back to unhealthy lifestyles. The good news is, a majority of the Resolutioners will backslide on their new found commitments and bit by bit the normalcy of gym traffic will return. If you can not adjust your training times, consider supersets and giant sets, find the equipment and stations you’ll need and hunker down and get it done. Schedule your training before or after those peak times, if possible. Typically, those times fall between 5 a.m. Regardless of the number of Resolutioners there are, the peak hours of most gyms and fitness centers remain the same. Here are a few tips to maximize your time and training. You begin to see bad lifting form everywhere, over-filled parking lots, and there’s rarely enough room to even get in those core lifts (i.e. Along with them, come gym first timers.Īgain, if you’ve been a creature of consistency, then you know that almost every piece of equipment on your regular routine are all taken! It’s frustrating, right? Especially, when a vast majority aren’t aware of proper use, etiquette, or consideration. These are people that have used the turn of a new year into a good time to make good on promises they’ve made to themselves all year to start “going to the gym and working out”. Every year, without fail, gyms and fitness centers across the country are filled with New Year Resolutioners. If you are regular gym goer, then you understand exactly who and what I am referring to. ![]()
